It’s been a year since my annual dental check-up. I obediently brought my mask with me and entered the building.
Changes had been made in the waiting room. There were no magazines to read. Surfaces were zen-like clean.
Before I went in, I was asked to fill out a form asking if I’d been sick, had a cough, etc.
Inside, my temperature was taken by touching a thermometer to my forehead. I was given an additionally diluted 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide as a mouth rinse.
In the exam room the dentist wore double masks plus a clear plastic face shield.
Every surface of the exam room was wiped down before and after I used was there.
I don’t remember being treated this way when everyone was freaked out about contracting HIV. What to that anyway — being freaked out about contracting HIV.
Is the virus du jour like a fad? Attention fades away.
No one asked me if I’d had the COVID-19 or if I’d been inoculated against it.
I’m pretty sure I was exposed when someone in my household tested positive and was sick for four days. I coughed for about two minutes and exhibited no other symptoms.
Can we get back to work now?
