I once wrote an article on political prisoners. It was back in the time when Flynn and Manafort and others were being sent to jail or prison for political reasons. I hadn’t believed until then that America even had political prisoners. But times have changed. The bad democrats have been throwing people in jail for political reasons using trumped up charges. How did we get here?

Today there’s an article online about a cowboy that is languishing in solitary because of (I believe) his politics.

Like that old Willie Nelson song “My Heroes Have Always been Cowboys,” I have a special place in my heart for cowboys. I could never understand the derogatory term “He’s a cowboy.” My grandfather was a cowboy. They are the greatest. Cowboys are real men. They work hard and get an honest job done. They seem to have a forthright simplicity about them. And they’re ruggedly handsome. Of course, this is all an ideal. But what’s not to like?

Cowboys have a special place in Heaven marked out for them with green pastures and open fields. Whether fenced or not, married or not, there is a freedom about them. They don’t belong in a big city rubbing shoulders with the rest of us or especially the corrupt and Godless folks out there in DC.

Today’s news article is about “Cowboys for Trump.” I can understand cowboys wanting to be for Trump. Trump is also a simple soul of sorts. Even though he has spent the last four years in Washington, he is untouched by the swamp. Even though he lived in New York with millions of people, he remained free as if he roamed the country on his trusty steed.

Some people are like that. Free, no matter what.

Why do they have a “Cowboy for Trump” in solitary confinement today? Solitary confinement is the worst of the worst of fences. On the surface of it, this seems wrong.

But, looking further, it gets worse. He’s been there for two weeks. I can’t even stand sheltering in place and this cowboy has been in solitary for fourteen days.

They say he has brought it on himself. He refused to take a coronavirus test. Yes, the coronavirus has imprisoned many of us with its new laws and regulations that seem to have come out of nowhere to put us in chains.

What else has he done? He has refused to talk to an attorney or judge. I didn’t think they would let a prisoner stay in solitary for not talking to the judge. How could this me? What happened to Habeas Corpus? What am I missing here?

He’s in jail for being stubborn? What? Are you telling me someone can’t just give him the test and stand him in front of a judge?

It turns out he was arrested on that infamous day, January 6, 2021. The day where the news pretended Trump was at fault and that someone had incited a riot without doing anything at all. George Orwell couldn’t have written the day better. Winston was given orders to rewrite history and he obediently did so. Then he passed the rewritten history on to be published all over the newspapers and on the evening television news like CBS. I personally watched what happened that day and searched for an honest report and couldn’t find an honest report anywhere. It was truly a day when American’s lights went out and we lived in a world created by and controlled by Pravda.

So, this cowboy is being held for what?
“Couy Griffin, an Otero County commissioner from southern New Mexico and founder of a horseback-riding group of Donald Trump promoters, has been charged by federal prosecutors with knowingly entering the Capitol grounds with the intent to disrupt government business.” (AP, para 2).

“Couy” — a good name for a cowboy. I want to see the movie. I love him already,

He didn’t do anything. He is truly a political prisoner. He entered the capital grounds. He had the “intention” of disrupting government business. Wow. What a bad person! Are you kidding me! He didn’t disrupt anything. He was thinking about it. It was wishful thinking. What is this? The thought police?

Then he left peacefully and was not arrested.

About eleven days later on January 17 he returned. He spoke about being opposed to the election and the results that went for Biden.. He didn’t want Biden to be inaugurated. Yeah, and about 74,000,000 of us.

After his arrest he was angry and yelled at police officers and banged on his cell door. Where’s the crime here? Being angry is a crime now?

“Griffin has said he wasn’t involved in violence at the U.S. Capitol and never went inside the building as he waded among throngs of Trump supporters on an outer balcony.” (AP, para 6).

Now he is being held without bail as he is a flight risk? What! He owns a gun. (Yes, we have the Second Amendment). He has spoken out against the election. (So, there’s the First Amendment).

He just seems like a real American. He thought he had freedoms. Was he wrong? Are we all wrong now?

They can’t arrest all of us can they?

Or are we already on arrest? House arrest.

Chilling.
